Social studies is difficult for most young students because they don’t have adequate background or context to make sense of the issues and events they are studying. The teacher’s goal is to connect the new information to familiar topics or understandings students already have.  Technology can provide support in doing this.

Participants explore ways to support virtual learning
through the 5 E’s

Rebecca Valbuena has been a social studies leader for many years. Currently she is on the Content, Literacy, Inquiry, and Citizenship Team (CLIC) at LA County
Office of Education. She is also a TOSA Academic
Coach in the Glendora USD.
