     About Our Speakers     

Condoleezza Rice in Live National Webcast

Condoleezza Rice is currently the Denning Professor in Global Business and the Economy at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution, and professor of Political Science at Stanford University. She is also a founding partner of RiceHadleyGates, LLC.

From January 2005 to 2009, Secretary Rice served as the 66th Secretary of State of the United States, the second woman and first African American woman to hold the post. She also served as President George W. Bush’s Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs (National Security Advisor) from January 2001 to 2005, the first woman to hold the position.

Minxin Pei Our In-Person Speaker

Minxin Pei is an expert on governance in the People's Republic of China, U.S.-Asia relations, and democratization in developing nations. He currently serves as the director of the Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies at Claremont McKenna College and is a non-resident senior fellow with the Asia program at the German Marshall Fund of the U.S. He was formerly a senior associate with the Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He has recently beennamed the inaugural John F. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress Chair in U.S.-China Relations. The Center  hosts top scholars from throughout the world, who conduct research in the library’s collections and engage with national leaders.
