There's a new diplomatic tone in the age of Trump. America's relations with China, Russia, but also India and Europe are undergoing change. Ambassador Munter analyzes these new challenges of tone and substance, identifies new cases and suggests how new approaches to diplomacy can address these challenges.

Ambassador Munter is one of America's most experienced diplomats. For example,  he served as U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan during a period of strained relations
from 2010 to 2012 that included the operation by the Obama administration against Osama bin Laden. Earlier he served as Ambassador to Serbia from 2007 to 2010 where he negotiated the domestic consensus for European integration and
managed the Kosovo independence crisis.  He also served two terms in Iraq, in
the Czech Republic and Poland, and as Director of the National Security Council
in the White House.
