The World Affairs Council of Inland Southern California invites grade 6-12 teachers to...

From founding of ancient civilizations to the current conflicts in the Middle East, the people of Anatolia have been in the center of it all. This conference will highlight key issues and events in both ancient and modern Turkey. Teachers who participate will be eligible to apply for a summer funded travel study option.

Join us for part one of a 3-phase program focused on the history and culture of Turkey made possible by a grant the Turkish Cultural Foundation through the World Affairs Councils of America. This all-day workshop targets grade 6-12 school teachers and administrators, but CSU San Bernardino students, World Affairs Council members, and members of the community from the Inland Empire are invited to attend and learn from the Turkey scholars as well.

Teachers are asked to stay for an extra hour to learn about Phase II of the program and how to apply. Phase two is an expense paid travel study open for up to 4 secondary school educators from the workshop group selected by the World Affairs Councils of America and the Turkish Cultural Foundation. These selected educators will represent the World Affairs Council of Inland Southern California on a two-week Study Tour of Turkey during one of these tentative travel periods: June 28-July 11 or July 14-July 27, 2015.  Each of the selected educators will be responsible for an $700 registration fee and their ticket to the designated US tour departure airport. All logistical arrangements and tour costs of the Travel Study will be provided by the Turkish Cultural Foundation.

To register, download and print the attached flier Spotlight Turkey flier color Map 2-28-15.pdf. and send the information to Dr. Margaret Hill, WAC Inland Southern California SBCSS, College of Social & Behavioral Sciences Deans Office, 5500 University Pkwy, San Bernardino, CA 92407.
